As we understand the words in the Bible
better, we can understand the message of the
writers better. All of this results in the ability
to know what God wants us to do.
To the left, there is a menu containing several
different, important Biblical words. The way
that we define these words will dramatically
affect the way that we understand the
Scriptures. It important that we study these
words to determine exactly what was meant
when they were written to people in the first
century.
When we truly understand the message God
is communicating, it is then that we are able
to really obey his commands.
Words have meaning. Our ability to
communicate with each other hinges on our
understanding of words. If we do not mean
the same things when we use the same
words, then it becomes very difficult to
understand each other.
Ancient documents, like the Bible, can be
difficult for us to understand at times because
different people, at different times and in
different places, may assign different
meanings to the same words. While this
makes understanding more difficult, it does
not make understanding impossible.
There are many people who have dedicated
their lives to studying the words used in the
Bible. Thanks to their work and dedication,
we have a variety of different resources to
help us understand how Biblical words were
used by people in everyday conversation.
